Meet the WHIG Team
Emma Cameron
Emma is the Co-President and founder of WHIG. She is a second-year Master of Art's student in Health Promotion at Dalhousie University. Her research focuses on access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services and supports for refugee, asylum-seeking, and migrant women.
Nila Joshi
Nila is the Seminar Series Lead for WHIG. She is a first-year student in the PhD in Health program. Her research focuses on outdoor loose-parts play, physical literacy, and cognitive development on children.
Kathryn Stone
Kathryn is the Co-President of WHIG. She is a first-year Master of Art’s student in Health Promotion. Her research looks at the impacts of climate change on the mental health of young women in Nova Scotia.
ben duplessis
Ben is the Editor for WHIG’s blog posts and interviews. Ben has a Bachelor of Journalism (Hons.) degree from King’s College. He is now a second-year medical student at Dalhousie with specific interests in ophthalmology, newcomer and global health.
Nicole blinn
Nicole is the Advocacy and Outreach committee lead for WHIG. She is a fourth-year Health Promotion (Hons.) student. Her research focuses on Indigenous health in the intersecting contexts of gender and the environment, using community-led participatory action research and community capacity building.
Brittany Matchett
Brittany recently completed her undergraduate honours thesis at Dalhousie University in the Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion program. Brittany will be pursuing her Master of Arts in Health Promotion beginning in September 2020 at Dalhousie. Brittany is currently a full-time research assistant in the Sexual Health and Gender Research Lab at Dalhousie, led by Dr. Matthew Numer.
